On November 7, 2026, the massive ship „Legend of the Seas”, the world's largest cruise ship, arrived at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, marking its first visit to the United States. This arrival occurred around 9:00 a.m., according to information provided by Cruise Ship Tracker. The ship was traditionally greeted by the greeting of the tank boat.
The transatlantic voyage began in Barcelona, Spain, on October 25. Before arriving in the USA, the ship underwent an inaugural summer phase in the Mediterranean region, after which it made a short detour near Puerto Rico. This unexpected return was necessary for the U. S. Coast Guard to conduct a medical evacuation of a passenger. Although this circumvention took place, it did not affect the initial North American arrival schedule.
Broward County Mayor Mark D. Bogen, expressed the joy of the community in welcoming the Legend of the Seasto Broward County. He pointed out that the appearance of such an impressive ship during its first visit to the USA contributes significantly to the strengthening of regional economies, job creation, stimulation of tourism and the presentation of the port and county globally.
Before arriving in the USA, the ship visited Palma de Mallorca on 26 October, Malaga on 27 October and Cadiz on 28 October as part of its Atlantic itinerary. Also on 5 November, the ship made a brief stop in the Eastern Caribbean before heading to Puerto Rico.
Upon returning to Florida on November 11
Although Legend of the Seas is only available in the U. S. now, it has already begun its inaugural season in the Mediterranean since entering service in July 2026.
Future plans for the ship in North America are already in place. On November 8, the ship will make its first cruise from Florida, a short three-night trip to the company's private island, Perfect Day CocoCay, in the Bahamas. This first stage will be completed on 11 November.
Upon returning to Florida on November 11, Royal Caribbean will hold an appointment ceremony, attended by retired General Lori J. Robinson, of the U. S. Air Force, who will be watchman of the ship. Immediately following this ceremony, another short three-night trip to CocoCay will follow.
Regular service will begin on November 14 with an eight-night route to the Bahamas and the southern Caribbean. Next up, Legend of the Seas will offer alternative routes from Fort Lauderdale, alternating between eight-night and six-night trips.
In terms of construction, the ship was built at Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the common location for all Icon-class ships including Icon of the Seas , Star of the Seas and the future Hero of the Seas , which is due to debut from Miami in August 2027.
This ship represents an important step for Royal Caribbean in the US market, expanding its presence with a state-of-the-art unit.
